The Client Enquiry screen is the main hub for viewing client information in Abacus for Windows. It brings together care episodes, assessments, domiciliary services, financial transactions, and credit control details across five tabs. You can also use it to navigate quickly to other screens and perform common actions via right-click menus.
Open Client Enquiry
Navigate to Clients > Client Enquiry (or use the toolbar icon).
Click Find to load the last client you worked with, or use the finder to search for a different client.
Care Episodes tab
Displays the client's full care history including historic, current, and future care episodes.
Each care episode shows its duration, the home name (for residential care), and the care type (permanent residential, respite, or domiciliary). Assessments appear underneath each care episode showing the period, the client's assessed charge, and the full cost of care.
For domiciliary assessments, click the [+] icon to view the planned services within that assessment. Use the [-] icon to collapse care episodes and fit more on screen.

Dom Services tab
Displays a week-by-week list of domiciliary services the client has received, with status indicators:
Charge not raised — the charge has been calculated but not yet invoiced.
Charge raised — the client has been invoiced.
Services entered manually — actual service was manually entered or imported rather than automatically assumed.
Click the [+] next to a week to see the detail: planned care, actual care delivered, provider name, and cost.
Transactions tab
Displays balances and transactions across multiple client accounts:

Charges / Payments | Charges raised as invoices and payments received. |

Credit Control tab
Lists every invoice produced for the client with the amount outstanding, dispute status, and whether reminder or solicitor letters have been sent.
The top of the screen shows aged debt and unallocated cash. Use Show only O/S invoices to filter to outstanding invoices only. Double-click an invoice number to preview the invoice detail.
View third party details
If the client has a third party contributor, the Third party (optional) dropdown becomes available. Select the third party to view their agreements, transactions, and credit control details. To return to the main client record, change the dropdown back to blank.
Service Orders tab
📌 Note: This tab is only visible if domiciliary service orders are used for planned services.
Displays service orders in force for a specific week ending date. Enter the date and click Refresh to view the details.
